Description

I wanted to create a moment where you feel sad for someone you shouldn't.Not sure if I succeeded, but I tried.A thief who relaxes after having been through an ordeal that should've been a "walk in the park", only to find one measly coin for his efforts.Beaten, sad and above all, less than adequate at his job.

This idea went through many iterations before I finally settled on this picture.I'd like to do more with these old time thiefs in the future.

great story-telling painting! I'm not sure I would have gathered as much without reading the description, but so what, it still looks cool...sometimes images are better without descriptions ;)

it's not a big deal, but I did notice the shadow of the red jar doesn't match the shadows of everything else...

Very nice mood and sense of space.

I think the wall and the cracks could be painted a bit more effective.
Agree with dean about the shadow of the bottle

Overall it's excellent + 9

His face looks really nice, I like the colors on it. :)! His right arm seems a little short to me, though.

The first thing that really jumped out at me was the juicy brush work in this painting. I particularly like the textures and colour on the walls and floor. Atmosphere/mood is another strong point in this picture- you can feel the sad, quiet disappointment of the theif, even before reading the description. However, as already mentioned, I probably wouldn't have guessed correctly at the story behind the image had it not been for the description. For some reason, I thought he looked a bit like a fisherman of a poor seaside town 'back in the day'. But, despite this, it still leaves the viewer creating stories in their minds, which to me is a successful picture.
Others have already mentioned some little issues, but the only thing I really notice is the black (or near-black, as it may be) shadows, particularly on his clothing and the rug under his feet. I feel that it makes the shadows a little too murky, and they should be lightened a bit. Then again, I'm also known as someone who 'never pushes her darks'.

You know I love your art Jeff- they always tell stories, and they're always unique. Although the correct story doesn't stand out as clearly as in "Sensitive", it's definitely a worthy addition to your gallery. ^_^ Keep it up Jeff, let me know when you post your next pic ;) (thumbup)
