Description

This is a piece I started a while ago and left thinking I wouldn't come back to it.However when I took a fresh look at it,I saw it still had potential....so I plowed on and here's the final product.

Don't ask where the idea came from,I'm just glad I've got something new to show.

Quite good, actually. :) I like the sense of depth you have here, just the right amount of haziness in the background, the figures are lively, and the color scheme does work. I think the shadows on the old man should be deeper, though, and define the difference between forearm and leg clearer. The grassy knoll could use some color variety, it is somewhat uniform; and the grass texture does not extend far enough back behind the old man - it falls off into blur quite short of the distance at which it is still crisp under the tree! And the composition would work better if you moved both figures to the left: as is, the standing guy is "pressed" against the right edge, and the old man has an empty space on the left. A more pronounced reflection and transparency on the water would be nice.

But keep working, I do like the direction it is taking. :)

Very cute, I can only imagine how the man is going to console the elf . I think a big iced bun and a cup of tea would cheer him up :)

The depth is great! That is the first thing I noticed. I like the expressions you ve captured, the elf looks positively stubborn I think you could have used a little bit more shading on characters as they are under the trees :) Nice use of colours and a great idea in general.

P.S. (arenhaus likes it )

Excellent work, I'll add this to my favorites list. Good imagination too, I would agree with arenhaus about the knee, and the old man's ear would look loads better if it were bigger (old mans ears are always big :)) these are just very minor details though. The backround is really great, the painting makes me feel like I want to be sitting there with them, that's good atmophere. +9 for improvement, and nice to see you back, I find your work inspirational.
